The Sydney Road Asset Performance Contract for the Parkland Zone, operated by Ventia since 2021, delivers reactive, proactive and programmed road maintenance, minor capital works, safety upgrades, and disaster recovery and repair to an area that covers approximately 5,400 square kilometres. The contracted road network is made up of 2,100 kilometres of road across Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and regional NSW, comprising high-growth urban areas as well as sensitive natural environments in World Heritage-Listed areas.
The Judging Panel recognised Ventia’s delivery of consistent and exceptional outcomes across a diverse network. Specifically, the Panel commended the significant reduction in pothole complaints, from over 60 per month in 2022 to between 15 and 30 per month, as a result of Ventia’s proactive interventions. In addition, the Panel praised the project for demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability, recognising the innovative integration of crumb rubber mix asphalt, which has so far diverted over 2,000 used tyres from landfill, and the reuse of other materials where possible.
