The Parramatta Light Rail Stage One project, delivered by the Parramatta Connect Consortium, comprising CPB Contracts and Downer EDI, involved the construction of 12 kilometres of two-way track between Westmead and Carlingford and 16 new stations. The Infrastructure Works package comprised the design and construction of the project, including design integration, structures and roads, services relocations, track slab and track, stop civil works and placemaking, infrastructure design, and active transport.
The Judging Panel shortlisted the project for being delivered on time and within budget, and recognised the complex urban environment of the project. The Panel commended the Consortium for delivering the project, despite challenges including COVID lockdowns, record-breaking adverse weather events, and significant workforce and supply chain challenges. The Panel also recognised the project’s integration of sustainable construction methods, including recycled asphalt and reduced waste.
