Kangaroo Point Bridge

Kangaroo Point Bridge

The $288 million Kangaroo Point Bridge delivers a new 460-metre crossing over the Brisbane River, linking the CBD with Kangaroo Point and improving connections to the city’s eastern suburbs. Designed with dedicated cycle and pedestrian paths, the twin cable-stayed spans enhance safety and accessibility for active transport users. Constructed under an Early Contractor Involvement model, the bridge integrates sustainable design features such as solar-powered lighting and lift access. Beyond its functional role, the bridge creates a striking new destination for Brisbane, with sheltered areas, lookout points, and dining venues attracting over 10,800 daily crossings — surpassing forecasts by more than 75 per cent.

The Judging Panel recognised the strong partnership between Brisbane City Council and the delivery consortium, which remained focused on meeting the community’s transport and access needs by enhancing active transport connectivity and linking key transport hubs. The Panel commended the collaborative approach shown throughout the project, particularly in response to the February 2022 flooding, where the consortium and Council worked closely to support recovery efforts.
