Defence Fuel Network Managing Contractor

Defence Fuel Network Managing Contractor

UGL was appointed the Defence Fuel Network Managing Contractor by the Department of Defence in August 2023. The contract includes the provision of strategic assets and fuel inventory management, engineering services, operations, maintenance, configuration management and project work for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) Defence Fuel Infrastructure Network. The contract also includes strategic asset advice, assurance services and management and coordination of the ADF’s fuel supply requirements, and providing fuelling support for large-scale training missions involving up to 20 countries.

The Judging Panel recognised UGL’s mobilisation and transitioning of services across 100 different locations across Australia over a six-month period, which posed significant challenges and risk profiles. The Panel also highlighted the successful integration of uninterrupted services across stakeholders, including the Army, Navy and Airforce, as well as integrating supporting equipment, such as refuelling vehicles, transportation, tooling, fuel quality control and consumables. The Panel also identified UGL’s work in establishing a contemporary Asset Baseline, and subsequent Asset Management Strategy. This work, which included the review of 30,000 fuel assets across the network, occurred alongside the mobilisation of services, supporting the delivery of sustainable improvements across Defence’s fuel infrastructure.
