The Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment Stage Two involved the construction of a new purpose-built Central Energy Plant and Support Services Building. The multi-functioning Building, with a total area of approximately 7,500 square meters, includes a central energy plant, pharmacy and pathology facilities, education and training spaces, and staff office areas.
The Judging Panel recognised John Holland, the Victorian Health Building Authority and Grampians Health for the delivery of the project within a live hospital precinct, and acknowledged the benefits the project brought to the local economy during its development. They further commended their engagement approach, including through efforts to collaborate on issues important to the local community, such as supporting women in the construction industry and aiding local survivors of domestic violence.
